Jonas Vingegaard, the reigning Tour de France champion, has been forced to withdraw from the Tour de Suisse after suffering a broken collarbone in a crash at the Basque Country Tour. The 26-year-old Danish rider was involved in a high-speed incident on stage 4 of the race, which resulted in a serious fall.

Vingegaard was taken to hospital for treatment and underwent surgery to repair the broken bone. The injury is a significant setback for the rider, who was preparing for the Tour de France, which begins on July 1st. Team director Merijn Zeeman confirmed that Vingegaard will not be able to attend the Tour de Suisse, but hopes to return for the Tour de France.
