Brain Structure: Falx Cerebri and Tentorium Cerebelli
Location and Attachments
Falx Cerebri
The falx cerebri is a crescent-shaped structure that divides the cerebrum into left and right halves. It is located in the sagittal plane, which is the plane that divides the body into left and right sides. The anterior end of the falx cerebri is attached to the crista galli of the ethmoid bone, while the posterior end is attached to the straight sinus and tentorium cerebelli.
Tentorium Cerebelli
The tentorium cerebelli is a sheet-like structure that separates the cerebrum from the cerebellum. It is located horizontally above the cerebellum and is attached to the falx cerebri at the straight sinus. The tentorium cerebelli has both a left and right side, which come together at the straight sinus.
